Christmas with all the trimmingsNovember 29, 2011
There are only a few short weeks left until Christmas and while some people may have been painting and decorating their homes for weeks now in preparation, others have left it to the eleventh-hour and are wondering how they can inject some festive cheer into their homes at short notice.
The good news is that it is absolutely possible to achieve gorgeous results, with minimal time and effort thanks to Crown’s Christmas Colourmix. The palette is full of cheery holiday shades guaranteed to ignite your Christmas spirit, even if you are a bit of a Scrooge!
Adding a festive ‘trim’ to existing décor is the perfect way to produce impressive results this year and what better way to start than with the entrance to your home. Hallways are often deprived of light and are therefore in desperate need of some colour. If your hallway and staircase are painted in a neutral tone then adding a refreshing trim to your banisters is a lovely idea. Crown’s Christmas Cheer would be a gorgeous choice, the high gloss colour will suit wooden frames really well and the colour is just gorgeous.
Another small way to make a big difference is to add some colour and light to your living room. I adore an open fire, especially at Christmas time and so if you don’t already have a feature wall in your living room, it might be a nice idea to add some merry colours to your fireplace or chimney breast. Christmas Stocking is a lovely rich shade incorporating shades of grey and blue and would be an ideal colour to intensify your chimney and fireplace. Use Crown’s Solo One Coat to make the job even easier and quicker. Solo is a matt paint emulsion that provides brilliant coverage on walls and ceilings in just one coat. For the more adventurous at heart, Christmas Cracker is a stunning bright shade of deep purple and would be gorgeous as a trim on your fireplace.
If we’re honest, most of us spend an exceptional amount of time during the holiday period sitting down so brightening up your wooden chairs with paint is a great way to add some cheer. Crown’s Solo Gloss is a high gloss paint that is quick and easy to work with, leaving you with beautiful results every time. You can mix up the colours you use to make it even more interesting. Three Kings and Wrapping Paper are bold rich shades, perfect in an informal dining room or children’s playroom. Swans a’Swimming is another stunning shade from the range that can be used in a more formal dining space.
Lighting and soft furnishings in deep shades will add to the overall ambiance of your newly trimmed home. I hope this helps you inject some festive cheer into your home this Christmas!
Happy decorating!
