Decorate your own hanging plates

Decorate your own hanging plates

December 4, 2009
One of my favourite techniques that is easy on the pocket and fun to do is to decorate and hang your own plates.

I love the selection of creative ideas Clever Crafts has on their website that you may like to try. From plates and bowls to cups and saucers this is a fantastic way to really feature some of your most prized possessions.

If you are a little sentimental when it comes to dinner sets then why not pick up some cheap mismatched plates in your local craft store.

Hanging an arrangement of plates on a feature wall can be visually more appealing than purchasing an expensive painting.

Take note of what wall you would like to hang your collection of decorative plates as the background colour will have a real impact on how your plates will appear when displayed on your wall.

It is vital to pick a place that will compliment what you are displaying. It’s a good idea to make sketches or pencil markings on the wall before hanging.

The advantage of hanging plates is that your choices are endless. In fact it is better to have a mix of patters, colours and shapes, as it can really bring the wall to life. You may even like to use on of your favourite images or an old family picture as a feature on one of the plates.

Have fun with it and happy decorating!
