If your home feels dark and claustrophobic a great way to bring light and a sense of extra space is by adding mirrors. They are a really simple and cost effective way to change the look and feel of any room.
A good-sized mirror is essential to ensure that you not only go out into the world looking your best but that you also feel a sense of space when you enter or leave a room.
Correct positioning is essential. The ideal spot is on the wall directly opposite a window so that there is natural light all around it. This isn’t always practical, so you need to find the next best place with as much natural light as possible. Evaluate the mirror’s position and look at all the elements of shape, size and style of frame that will compliment the rooms overall look. A large mirror is an excellent way to disguise a cramped or gloomy room and give the ambience and impression of more light and space than you actually have. I love the selection of mirrors that are available in Ikea, but if your budget can stretch, be sure to check flea markets and antique shops for the perfect vintage mirror. Happy decorating! |
