Hi Neville, I have recently bought an old house which will require some attention. The house has solid wooden floors throughout which after a bit of TLC will look wonderful. What would you advise I do with the floors to make them look their best?
My husband and I have just recently moved into our new home. It is a beautiful house with lovely bright open spaces. Our living room is a great size and just off this area we have a smaller room which is a blank canvas at the moment. My husband keeps saying it would be perfect for a home bar because we entertain and have dinner parties on a regular basis. His birthday is coming up and he is going away for a week on a business trip so I thought it would be a nice idea to have it done as a surprise when he comes home. Can you advise how I would go about achieving this?
I am about to move in with my boyfriend and in addition to the normal adjustment issues that occur when you move in with someone, we have another one: decorating styles. He loves the minimalistic style and while I am not a clutter lover, I do like a little more life and personality in my living space and love colour. At the moment his apartment feels cold and somewhat lacking a homely feel. How do we find a middle ground?
Hi Neville I have decided to redecorate the entrance hall of my home and I would like to make a real impact. It is a small sized space with four doorways leading off into the rest of the house with the stairway facing the door. How can I maximise the space while ensuring a welcoming feeling?
I have recently been on a holiday in Italy and I have come back inspired by all things Italian! I fell in love with how stylish the surroundings are over there and now I want to try emulating an Italian theme throughout my home. I wondered would you have any hints and tips that could help me get starting.
I have just purchased my first home; a brand new apartment in Dublin. It’s a beautiful modern space with lots of natural light and simple furnishings. While I love the simplicity, I think that it needs personalising. I have lots of old furniture and knik knacks that I have collected over the years and I would love to incorporate these into my home without them standing out in such a modern space. Is there any way I can do this?
I recently moved in with my partner and we have decided to redecorate. He has a very contemporary apartment with minimalist décor. However, I prefer more decorative, comfortable and feminine designs. I have decided to start with our bedroom which is currently dark blue. I hate the dark colour scheme but he is totally against “girly colours” such as pink, lilac, or pastel shades. Besides his horrible brown armchair in the corner of our room, he has a collection of gaudy gadgets. Most can be stored away but he has a large TV and stereo which I feel are unsightly. I hope to bring a touch of calmness to our bedroom while also accommodating his tastes. Any tips for surviving the decorating process will be much appreciated!
