I have been living in my house for over 6 years now and for that period it has mostly been painted in neutral shades which I must say I am getting quite bored of. I think it’s time for a splash of colour and I have heard of colour blocking which sounds interesting. Could you give me some hints and tips on how to achieve a colour block look and any colours you think could work well to add a wow factor to my home?

I have recently added a conservatory to my home and it is a big bright room and looks fantastic. The only thing is I am completely lost on ideas on how to decorate a room like this. The conservatory at the moment is a blank canvas and it is looking out onto our beautiful garden that has recently been re-done. I’m not keen on pale colours like beige or white so anything other than this would be brilliant.

Hi Neville. I’d really like to put a stamp on my home and would love to use black more throughout but I’m afraid it might turn out to be dark and drab. Do you have any hints and tips for using this colour?

I have decided that it is time to give my home a little TLC. My décor isn’t at all dated but I do feel that it needs something else to give it a new lease of life. In the majority of my rooms I have incorporated a feature wall and the general decorating rules have been applied. I just feel that I am missing the wow factor and something a little different in some of the rooms. Have you any amazing techniques that I can try?

I have recently started learning about colour therapy and spiritual healing and how different colours have certain effects on the body. I would love to introduce some of these colours into my home and build more of a knowledge base about how colour affect us. Do you have any recommendations on how best to introduce colour therapy into my home and what colours to use?

Hi Neville, I’m looking for some advice on introducing some various shades of grey into my home but I have no idea which tones to put in which rooms. Can you help? I live in a two-bedroom apartment with an open plan living / dining room space and want to create a modern feel throughout my home.

My husband and I recently bought a holiday home in the country. We made this purchase so we could escape from the “hustle and bustle” of the city with our two children during holiday periods. We want to create a real country home and would love to make it cosy with a more natural, rustic feel, something totally different from our home in the city. Can you give me some advice on how to achieve this?

I really want to give my home a clean, crisp finish. I know that white is really popular for this but for me, it always ends up looking bland – help!
Sarah, Dublin
We are due our second child in October. We already have a three year old. We live in a two bed apartment so they will be sharing quite a large room which we will be redecorating. I wonder if there’s any colour scheme that would work for a baby and for a toddler as well, as I know colour is so important for them at that age.

I’ve heard people talk about the psychology of colour and that some colours work better in certain rooms. Can you tell me what they are as I’d really like to bring this into my home?
Tara, Monaghan
I have a son and daughter at home studying their hearts out for the Junior and Leaving Cert. They are spending lots of time in their rooms and I would like to make the space as comfortable and relaxing as possible. I have heard that certain colours can help people’s memory, is there a particular colour I should paint their rooms to help them during these tough months?
