As mentioned make sure aggressive colours are not used in the room. These can include bright yellows and reds. If they are going to be incorporated into a room make them a minor detail and they should definitely not be considered as a colour scheme throughout the whole room.
The colours schemes that I would suggest are highlighted below. Baring in mind that that you have both a toddler and baby to consider, I think they will work extremely well.
The first is Crown’s Easyclean Just Lemon. Easyclean is excellent for children’s bedrooms as marks and stains simply wipe off – perfect for little mucky hands! Also remember that all of Crown’s emulsions come in a breatheasy formulation which are virtually odour free – ideal for painting kid’s bedrooms as it does not leave any lingering smells.
The colour Just Lemon is a soft yellow and will suit both boys and girls. It is a bright, warm, sunny, fun colour and will go perfectly well with most ranges of kiddie’s furniture that is out there at the moment.
If you wanted to add a theme to the room, this yellow is the perfect background for any types of cartoon drawings or famous children’s characters.
To add a little extra colour to the room, try painting the skirting board a colour such as a soft terracotta i.e. Amber Glow would be perfect for this. Doors or doorframes can also be painted to add a little something extra to the room.
Another colour that would work really well in this room would be Soft Lime. This is perfect for younger kids and is a bright cheerful colour while also soothing children at bed time. Sunlight will energise this colour and from a psychological point of view, the colour is perfect for young children. As before, the colour also works very well with children’s furniture.
A jungle theme here would be perfect with the green back ground with plenty of wildlife and greenery easily incorporated into the theme.
To add a little pep to the room, paint the skirting in Seaspirit – a really pretty blue that will work really well with this colour. How about painting the headboard as well to really bring the room together?
Remember that the children’s bedroom should be a stimulating place, while also being a calming and safe environment for children to relax and sleep in. Other colours like softer blues and greens, especially duck egg blue and greens will work really well too. Make sure that any tones that you use are soft to mid tones and that the colours work you chose together to complement and create a nice atmosphere in the room.
Finally if you have any old pieces of furniture that you want to use in the room, why not renovate them to suit your colour scheme. Painted furniture is hugely popular today and it’s a great way to recycle any old pieces of children’s furniture that you might have considered throwing out before!
