Crown Paints Ireland has raised €12,000 for their 2011 nominated charity, the Ronan Quinn Memorial Fund for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin through two dedicated fundraising initiatives. The charity, which was established in 2002 in memory of Ronan Quinn, raises funds for the hospitals paediatric oncology unit.

 

A committee of 30 Crown Paints employees from across the business volunteered their time to run a race night and a golf outing to raise this phenomenal amount.

 

Speaking about the fundraising, Ronan’s father Donal Quinn, who is head of Distribution at Crown Paints, said, “Both Grainne my wife and I are extremely grateful to everyone who volunteered their time to organise the events and everyone who contributed to the charity. The money raised will provide essential funding to the paediatric oncology unit in Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin at a time when Government funding is restricted.”

 

Speaking about the events, Padraic Timlin, general manager, Crown Paints Ireland said, “Crown Paints are delighted to be associated with such a worthwhile cause and I would like to congratulate everyone involved.”

 

Our Lady’s Hospital is the national referral hospital for sick children from all over Ireland and is home to the country’s only paediatric oncology unit. There are over 120 new cases of childhood cancer diagnosed each year. To continue providing the best possible treatment and care for seriously ill children, the unit is continuously under pressure for funds. Current and on-going projects include upgrading ward facilities, purchasing vital life-saving equipment and on-going research into the cause, care and prevention of cancer and leukaemia.
