Our 2020 decorating resolutions

With 2019 coming to a close, we’ve started to think about our wishes for 2020. While we’re busy planning personal goals, we also like to think about how we might improve our homes. We believe that the environments we live in each day can greatly influence our mindsets. So, in the spirit of looking forward, we’ve come up with some of our 2020 design resolutions. We thought we’d share them with you.
Bring more light in: We love natural light throughout the home. It always seems to lift our spirits. This year, we’ll be welcoming the outside light into our homes as much as possible. We’ll throw back the curtains, open the blinds, and ensure that nothing is blocking our views to the outside.
Enjoy more greenery: We’re loving green— when it comes to our walls and our plants! We’ll be embracing botanical hues and all shades of green throughout the year. Want to enliven your space? Add potted or hanging plants for a fresh and fabulous look! Many people believe that looking at green increases your feelings of well-being. What’s not to love about this tranquil hue?
Play with colour: 2020 is all about taking risks in the colour arena (at least as far as we’re concerned). While neutrals will always hold a special place in our hearts, we’re challenging ourselves to go a bit bolder within our spaces. Basically, we’ll try anything once. We’re done wondering— it’s time to take action! Painting around the home is simple, so if we’re not crazy about a certain look we’ll simply paint over it!
Create a space to unwind: Sometimes the days just seem to get away from us. Whether it’s work, school, sports, or other engagements, it often feels like we’re always on the go. This year, we’re going to focus on creating spaces where we can truly relax and unwind. We want to make sanctuaries from the often-chaotic world, where we can enjoy some much-needed R&R. We also love the thought of a tech-free zone, but we’ll take things one step at a time!
Don’t neglect the exteriors: We talk so often about interior design that it might be easy to forget that our exteriors need some TLC too! Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint, a thorough cleaning, a new door colour or some thoughtful landscaping, there are plenty of simple improvements you can make for maximum impact! A cared for home not only looks amazing, it will stay healthier for years to come!
